Challenge Bahrain 2014 (Half Distance)

Image
Race Report by Mohd Syafei Ahmad 6 December 2014 This race will always have a special place in my heart. Not only it fell on my 38th birthday, it was my also my 1st long distance triathlon after two years of swim bike and run. My reason to tri started as cross trainings to supplement my marathon training, but soon I fell in love with triathlon. The 4 disciplines are like my four children. Each with different characters, challenges and level of attention needed but I love them all equally. Cinta (Swim): The most difficult to pleased, always a rebellious, but once you get the rhythm, it will be the most satisfying. Elias (Bike): The most adorable. The one you like to spend most of your time with but not without its own challenges. Zachary (Run): The hardest and always angry but the most reliable and loyal, Kaseh (Nutrition): The most fun to be with, the most important aspect of a triathlon but always being taken for granted. I thought training for a marathon was hard

Ironman Malaysia 2017 Race Report By Mohd Syafei Bin Ahmad   My 3rd full distance medal, and the it is most beautiful one Intro It took me almost two weeks to finally sit and write this race report. I still feel the highs from the race and can’t move on from all the excitement I had in Langkawi two weeks ago. Ironman Malaysia is like an unofficial national championship for Malaysian triathletes. Almost everyone I know from the local Tri community descended on the island to battle it out for the bragging rights to finish an Ironman or finishing among the top Malaysian finishers on home soil. I would say everyone must be proud to earn their Ironman title in Langkawi. It is among the toughest Iron distance courses in the world for crying out loud. I personally took this race very seriously. My goals were to PB, complete the race in less than 12 hours and finish among the top 20 Malaysian. Going into this race I secretly marked few Malaysian triathletes I know, rename the

Top Malaysian Finishers at Ironman Malaysia 2017

Last week, almost everyone in Malaysia's triathlon community converged in Langkawi to battle it out for the coveted bragging rights of becoming among the best Malaysian finishers. Mohd Amran, the top Malaysian finisher in 2016  was not competing this year following a bike accident few months ago and it then a straight forward battle between Rupert Chen and Shahrom Abdullah who made a come back after a long hiatus. Few notable triathletes were also missing in the top 20 this year. Many people suffered on the run after clocking faster time on the bike. Maybe because it was 'cooler' this year and most people took the risk to ride harder. Overall it was still a good race. Well done everyone and see you again in 2018. Race 1 Qatar Cycling 2017/2018 Season

29 Sept 2017, Al Thakira, Qatar It has been three years since I last joined any road race and after I sold my road bike. I really miss the fun and the adrenaline rush of a cycling road race.  So I borrowed my old road bike that I sold to a friend and joined the season opener road race in Al Thakira. I am familiar with the route since it is the same cycling route I ride with MAD Triathlon on our Friday rides. I lead the main peloton much of the race until about 15 km to go in the 60 km race and orchestrated few breakaways to split the group. I did it because I was too scared to get dropped and felt a little bit claustrophobic riding in a tight peloton. I paid the price when I could not keep up with the lead group when the group finally split and ended up riding alone for 15 km against strong headwind to the finish.

Triclub Doha 2017/18 Season Duathlon #1

Image
25 Sep 2017 The new season is here. Last night we had our first Duathlon of the season at Lusail. The format was still a short 1.25 km Run - 20km Bike - 1.25 km Run like the summer series since the weather is still pretty hot for a standard distance. Well safety is our priority. We had probably the largest turnout ever for a club duathlon. About 50 or so members came to participate including some of our fastest guys. I was particularly happy with my bike performance but my run was just meh. I came in 14th overall. Run 1: 5:11 T 1: 0:46 Bike: 33:15 T 2: 0:43 Run 2: 5:24 Overall: 45:21

Robbie Williams | Love My Life

"Love My Life" Tether your soul to me  I will never let go completely.  One day your hands will be Strong enough to hold me.  I might not be there for all your battles, But you'll win them eventually.  I pray that I'm giving you all that matters, So one day you'll say to me, "I love my life. I am powerful, I am beautiful, I am free. I love my life.  I am wonderful, I am magical, I am me. I love my life." I am not my mistakes, And God knows, I've made a few.  I started to question the angels, And the answer they gave was you.  I cannot promise there won't be sadness. I wish I could take it from you.  But you'll find the courage to face the madness, And sing it because it's true.  I love my life. I am powerful, I am beautiful, I am free. I love my life.  I am wonderful, I am magical, I am me. I love my life. Find the others with hearts like yours.  Run far, run free. I'm with you.  I love my life. I am powerful, I am beautiful, I a

Barely two weeks after Challenge Roth, I found myself registering for another 140.6. Ironman Malaysia in Langkawi on 11 November 2017. I must have a severe addiction to Ironman pain.

Challenge Roth 2017 Race Report

Image
Intro I went to Roth with an objective to have a new Personal Best in full distance triathlon. I will be happy with anything better than 14:22:58. This was what I told everyone, but secretly I was hoping for a sub 12 hour finish. I knew it was a tall order with only 8 weeks of training and missing a lot of sessions in the last 4 weeks during the month of Ramadan. The training during summer in Qatar and during Ramadan was really hard, almost impossible. Luckily I had a great support from my wife. She joined me in some of the long runs and long rides and she even bought me a Wahoo Kickr bike trainer so I could train at home (I promise I'll pay her back later). I also had a great support from MAD Triathlon, PSY Tribuddies and Project Banana cyclists which certainly make it a little bit easier. Thank you so much guys. You know who you are and I cannot thank you guys enough. Training made easier when you have company.. thank you guys Thank you for the send off dinners
